“I’m reading don’t kill myself books”- John Beckwith- Danny Kimmel

It was a tough week to be a fan of the original red dragons. They say tough times don’t last but tough people do. Turns out I am not a tough person. I’m going to try to add a few more games to this list throughout the year. I don’t have that much info on a lot of teams besides the SUNYAC, RIT, and Hartwick but this will have to do for this week.

Cortland vs. Scranton

Cortland started out the year with a huge win over the boys from Rochester. A big 2nd and 4th quarter helped them more than double up Fischer. Like I said last week Fischer would look much different than they did last year. Regardless, this was still a good win. I think this game vs Scranton will be a tougher battle for the Dragons. The last few meetings have been pretty close and Scranton finally got over the hump last year and beat Cortland. I think this one will also be super close. I think Cortland wins by 1-2 goals.

Geneseo vs. Ithaca

The enemy out west starts the year 2-0. There wasn’t much to tell from the Bombers first game except I think Oneonta can take Lycoming. This should be a great game that I think Coach Long and the boys will take the dub.

Brockport vs. Wooster

Wooster is the Salisbury of beating teams I didn’t know had a NCAA level program this year. They’re already 3-0 and have played the deaf, dumb, and blind. Brockport should be able to get Coach Cornaire his first win here.

Oswego vs. Clarkson

Oswego still refuses to play anybody. They play Clarkson on Tuesday on the road to start the year. I think this one will be a blow out in favor of the Golden Knights.

Plattsburgh vs. Sage

Whoops this one already happened. Plattsburgh held off a 4th quarter comeback against Coach Lanigan’s boys. The eagles are 2-0, I wish we were 2-0.

Potsdam vs. Neuman

Potsdam put up more in a game against #14 St Lawrence then we did against Skidmore :(. Neuman is making a bold move to play 2 games in 3 days. They play Susquehanna on Saturday and a quick turnaround vs Potsdam on Monday. I think Neuman loses both. Potsdam is one of those scrappy teams that will lose to Wells college but then give RIT a fit. Potsdam gets their first win of the year here.

New Paltz vs. Morrisville

This game is going to suck. I’m not entirely sure who will win but everybody who has to watch will lose.

Oneonta vs Stevens

Their game on Wednesday reminded me of the epic loss to St Joes back in 2019. I’m worried for my boys on Monday. I can see it now, me sitting at my desk on Monday looking into my computer screen with a tear running down my cheek as a Stevens midfielder rolls back and scores with no slide help, “Look how they’re massacring my boys”. It could be a tough week because they follow it up with the evil genius Don LaSala and the Hawks for the battle of mug night on Wednesday. Spring break couldn’t come at a better time after these games.

Hartwick vs Farmingdale

Hartwick opens the season with a road trip to god’s country (Long Island) with a date with Farmingdale. They might have a tougher battle against Farmingdale High School after the Rams just barely beat New Paltz Last week. Nobody in the country gets more out of their players than Coach LaSala. I think this will be close in the first half but the Hawks will pull away in the second half. Take a walk across the street to Changing Times, I heard Quinn hasn’t left his bar stool there since our last Millon Camp back in 2018.

RIT vs York

I want to start adding a game of the week to the D3 blog on top of already covering RIT. It just turns out that This happens to be the game of the week in D3 in my opinion. Next up would be Salisbury and Lynchburg but I don’t have my Austin Stewart stat lines ready to talk about the Burg yet. I called RIT losing 2 games this year and this is one of them. I would feel really confident about it if this game happened right after the 3 OT game vs Muhlenberg. They got back on track to kicking the shit out of teams again this week. I think the Loss of Barnable and Angus are going to be too much to overcome in this one. I just haven’t loved the production the midfield has been able to produce so far this year. I know that’s crazy to say about a team that’s scored 50 goals in 3 games this year. The mighty mouse line of Grottenthaler, Mozrall, and Bruno hasn’t been able to create enough separation to draw eyes to give room to the sharp shooters of Gaston, Bell, and Pilcher. Again 50 goals is 50 goals but this game I think will be the one that shows how impossible it is to replace 17 and 23.
