Idiots Guide 2024 D1 Edition

Ladies and gentlemen it’s time. Your favorite moron is back to give idiotic lacrosse advice that nobody asked for and nobody will probably read. Week zero kicks off tomorrow so what a better time to send out the idiots guide then at 9 o’clock on a Friday the day before the first games. Enjoy!

ACC

#1Duke

#2 Virginia

#3 Notre Dame

#4 Syracuse

#5 North Carolina

How do you not take Duke to win the ACC this year? 34 is back for another round with tons of weapons behind him like Balsamo (wearing #1 now), McAdorey, Brower, Naso, and Williams. Helm returns in net for a last go around as well. Not to mention 3 of the top 100 incoming freshmen. Can you believe there is still a fowler on Duke? That has to be like 2 decades straight of one of the Fowler boys on the roster. These guys will be super hungry to get back to championship weekend after last year’s tough loss in the Championship.

Virginia is going to be awesome again because Shelly won’t allow anything else. They have their own cast of characters like Cormier, Schutz, Kastner, and Nunes. They have a ton of talent that have yet to play in a Cavalier uniform. The number 2 freshman in the country and my boy Mccabe Millon, Highly touted 2023 recruit Joey Terenzi, and the 2023 Division 3 player of the year Jack Boyden from Tufts. There has never been a limit on talent at UVA but replacing the all time face off leader in Petey Lasalla will be a problem.

As long as there is a Kavanagh at ND you can ever count them out. That being said I see big time super bowl hang over for the boys in South Bend. The ACC Championship being back for the first time since 2019 could be a huge wrinkle in this master plan of mine. ND is one of those teams that you don’t want to see in a dark alley. If there is any blood in the water from Duke or Virginia they could easily pounce and beat them in a quick 3 day ACC championship weekend.

Syracuse got better last year but that doesn’t mean they can compete with Duke, UVA, or Notre Dame. Those 3 are playing a different sport right now than what Syracuse and North Carolina can put together. I’m excited to see Spallina matched up with line mate Owen Hiltz who returns from injury this year. Petro and Dom will make their debuts for the tar heels this year together. UNC has had a top recruiting class for the last 100 years and has only 1 championship to show for it. I think the departure of Coach Metzbower will be very hard for them to overcome.

America East

#1 Vermont

#2 Albany

#3 Bryant

#4 Binghamton

#5 UMBC

#6 Merrimack

#7 NJIT

#8 Umass Lowell

Vermont wasn’t great outside of conference play last year but neither was the rest of this conference. Coach Feifs has built something really strong in Vermont and I think they will continue to get better going forward.

Albany’s record wasn’t great but played by far the toughest non conference schedule and is one of those teams you can never count out. I think they can rebound and have a much better year this year and take back what they should have against Bryant in the championship last year.

Coach Ross in year two will look to get back to the championship game again. I think they take a bit of a step back this year. Similar to a coach fired mid year in the NFL that team will look to play its ass off for the interim in the next game. I think that’s what we saw from Bryant last year after Coach Pressler retired.

The Bingaling boys played some really close games last year and proved to be tougher than they have been in years past. This could be a huge year for this program if they can take another step forward.

I’ll always think of UMBC as the killer Bees led by Coach Koesterer a few years back. These guys play mean and consistent. The only problem is they don’t have a ton of talent. They win the games they should and lose to the ones that are in question. I think this will be another mediocre year for the Retrievers.

Merrimack has had trouble finding its footing at the Division 1 level. Very inconsistent year after year. I don’t think this year changes anything.

Coach Wolf got NJIT their first win in over a year last year in his first year at the helm. I think they will have about the same year beating the same teams again, one of which being Umass Lowell.

Coach Kelleher had a rough first year going defeated. I don’t think Gary or Paul or Jake Nicolosi are walking through the door to save the River Hawks.

ASUN

#1 Jacksonville

#2 Utah

#3 Bellarmine

#4 Air Force

#5 Robert Morris

#6 Mercer

#7 Cleveland State

#8 Detroit Mercy

#9 Queens

#10 Lindenwood

I think Jacksonville continues to get better and better each year under John Galloway. They keep bringing in great transfers and I think they take another step this year and take the conference.

Utah struggled in the early going of their schedule last year and then dominated the lesser competition they played. Their 11 game winning streak came to an end to the eventual national champs in the first round of the playoffs. They will be good again this year but I think Jacksonville just got a little bit better.

The boys from Kentucky made their way to the conference playoffs last year. I don’t know what it is about these guys, maybe it’s that they have opened up with duke the last few years but I think these guys are good. They really turned it around after a 4-12 year in 2022. I think the conference playoffs are in these guys’ future again.

My logic for thinking Bellarmine is good is the exact reason why I think Air Force is bad. I can’t tell you why except for the fact that I haven’t seen them beat anybody good. Yes they beat Denver but I didn’t watch that game so it doesn’t count so shut up.

Bobby Mo continues to be my favorite underdog scrappy team. A bunch of beauties from Canada that play a fun version of Lacrosse. Every time these guys play is like watching MAC football, you never know what’s going to happen. With that being said I don’t think they will have a great year.

I don’t think year 2 for coach Danehy is where he makes the big jump for this program. Maybe next year fellas.

A not good team that can beat other not good teams, Cleveland State isn’t competing for the goods on Memorial day any time soon.

Detroit Mercy, Queens, and Lindenwood are 3 of the bottom dwellers on Division 1 Lacrosse. Lindenwood was so bad in year 1 they decided to call it a career. I’m here for laughs. I’m sorry, I actually think it’s disgusting what that school did to those kids.

A10

#1 St Josephs

#2 Richmond

#3 High Point

#4 Umass

#5 Hobart

#6 St Bonaventure

St Josephs brings back another loaded grad year and senior class which includes the boy Richie LaCalandra who makes his return to the field after a short stint at THE Ohio State. I think these guys have something to prove this year. Look out for a round 1 victory for Coach Wrays boys.

When I think of Richmond I think Defense, when I think of High Point I think of Offense. The battle of Coach Broschart vs Coach Richards offense and defenses will decide who comes in second this year. My brain always thinks defense so I think Richmond comes in second.

Umass is Umass, a tough hardnose well coached team. I love coach Canella but I don’t think this will be one of his more talented teams.

Hobart needs to take some tips from its women’s team to try to get back to their winning ways.

St Bonaventure had one of the bigger drop offs ever last year. They went from 11-4 and 1 goal away from a playoff appearance to 1-13. People are starting to ask if Jake Nicolosi killed the Bonnies.

Big East

#1 Georgetown

#2 Denver

#3 Villanova

#4 Providence

#5 Marquette

#6 St Johns

Call me lame but I think this conference ends the same exact way it did last year. I have heard nothing but great things about Georgetown this pre-season. I think they can make a strong push for championship weekend this year.

Denver starts fresh without Coach T berating the officials on the sideline for the first time in a long time. I think Coach Brown will have a very nice first season.

To quote a Villanova alumni “We are a 9-5 team it’s just who we are”. I think things will stay the same for the wildcats this year. Shout out Haggs!

Coach Benson hasn’t been there long enough and brought in enough of his guys to make a big difference yet. Watch out for these guys in 2 years.

Marquette was like 4 goals away from being ranked in the top 10 last year. 1 goal games down the stretch and ended up with a 6-8 record. Will they get over the hump this year and win some of those 1 goal games? I don’t think so.

St Johns got a much needed change with the signing of Justin Turri as their head coach. I think they will struggle for a few more years but this is a good sign for things to turn around at St Johns.

Big 10

#1 Hopkins

#2 Maryland

#3 Rutgers

#4 Michigan

#5 Penn State

#6 Ohio State

The Blue Jays are back on top. I think Coach Crawley is the difference maker here. This guy is the real deal and the next big time head coach in Division 1.

It’s hard to not have Maryland at the top of any list when talking about lacrosse but I need to see how the new crop of terps look before I can put them back up top.

Transfer U has done it again. They have like 60 grad transfers on the roster this year. I like what coach Brecht has built the last few years and I think they have a chance to make it to the playoffs this year.

Michigan should probably be high on this list as you could probably say about Penn State but this is my list so go write your own. I think the top 3 teams in this conference can play defense. I don’t know if these two can. Time will tell, I think I will be completely wrong with these picks come the end of the year.

THE Ohio State will be a good team not a great team and there are a lot of great teams in this conference.

CAA

#1 Delaware

#2 Stony Brook

#3 Drexel

#4 Towson

#5 Monmouth

#6 Hofstra

#7 Fairfield

#8 Hampton

Delaware under Coach Deluca has been great. I don’t know how much better they got from last year but it’s still good enough to be at the top of this list.

The Seawolves are destined to be good this year. Destined is a strong word but I just have a good feeling about this team. Co-player of the year Dillon Pallonetti is back and ready to take over. Maybe a former NYS Champ from Massapequa and Terp will be the difference for this team in the midfield. Gibbons I love ya kid.

Drexel and Towson are like Richmond and High Point that I referenced earlier. I think offense and defense respectively for those teams but I think Drexel’s success more recently will help them be a little bit better.

The bottom 4 teams here are trash. I’m hoping for great things for my guy Tommy Heller in his grad year at Monmouth but these teams won’t be making much noise this year.

Ivy League

#1 Cornell

#2 Princeton

#3 Yale

#4 Penn

#5 Harvard

#6 Brown

#7 Dartmouth

Cornell is the standard for the Ivy’s still after having such a dominant few years under both Connor Buczek and Jordan Stevens. I like the Bug Red to keep on rolling.

This entire conference battles and beats the shit out of each other all year so it’s so hard to judge this conference. Not to mention they all play a pretty ridiculous out of conference schedule as well. With the new addition of Coach Kerwin at Dartmouth there will be no more freebies or easy games for any of these teams. I won’t try to write too much for this pre season pick because it will most end the complete opposite of what I think. I’ll let the boys with perfect SAT scores figure it out for me.

MAAC

#1 Marist

#2 Mount Saint Mary’s

#3 Manhattan

#4 Quinnipiac

#5 Sacred Heart

#6 Canisius

#7 VMI

#8 Siena

#9 LIU

#10 Wagner

#11 Iona

Let me start by saying this conference STINKS. It sucks that there will be an AQ from this conference and the 3rd best team from the ACC or the Ivy’s or the 2nd best team from the Big 10 or Big East won’t have a chance to actually win a playoff game.

I’m going with some hometown cooking with this pick. The conference champs from last year are home to a bunch of my guys. Jake Deacy leading the offense and Aidan Mccafery on defense. Hopefully they can make some noise and run it back again this year.

Mount St Mary’s is now led by one of the better Division 2 college coaches of all time in Chris Ryan. He ran one of the best and most consistent teams over the last 20 years at Mercyhurst. They will be in good hands with him and shouldn’t skip a beat.

There has been so much turnover at head coach for Manhattan so it’s hard to pick them to finish at the top of the conference this year but this conference is so bad maybe they can overcome it and prove me wrong.

Quinnipiac lost its heart and soul in Coach Zom this summer. They almost beat brown last year and I can’t put them lower on this shit list because of it.

Sacred Heart is lucky to be in this conference so they wont be called out for how truly bad they are. They just happen to have 6 of the worst teams in division 1 lacrosse in their conference. We gotta make a change at the top OD.

The bottom 6 you guys get it. They’re trash and not worth writing about, reading about, or watching. Shout out the Sharks though I love their staff.

Patriot League

#1 Army

#2 BU

#3 Loyola

#4 Navy

#5 Lehigh

#6 Lafayette

#7 Bucknell

#8 Colgate

#9 Holy Cross

A very fun top half of the conference I think will be won again by Army. I actually think them and BU make their way back to the conference championship and give each other hell again. Coach Alberici and Polley have done such an incredible job and will both have a really good chance at the playoffs this season.

Loyola is a wild card. They are a team coached well enough to beat Duke but haven’t been able to have consistent years as the top dog in the conference. It’s stupid of me to say because they have been the best team in this conference as long as Coach Toomey has been there but this is just how my stupid brain works.

I don’t think Navy is better this year. I just think Lehigh is worse than the reason for them being above. If you’ve read this blog the past few years you know of my ongoing feud with the Navy. These guys need to figure it out this year.

Lafayette Bucknell and Colgate are all the same exact team to me. There are bad teams but not historically defeated teams like NJIT, Wagner and Umass Lowell but literally wont beat anybody besides those teams. These guys are the tier right above absolute dog shit on my overall rankings.

Independent

Lemoyne

I’m super happy for Lemoyne making the jump. Now they can see what it’s like to go from top dog to getting your teeth kicked in just like all the other division 2 teams that have jumped in the last 10 years. No but seriously I think Lemoyne has a chance to actually be a successful division 1 team unlike LIU, Merrimack, Queens and whoever else made the dumb decision to jump. Best of luck to Coach Sheehan and the Dolphins.

Life is pointless if your not at the top

Is this what it felt like for Patriots fans when Brady left? Even calling this as a loss was still a tough pill to swallow. This was the 4th loss of these 5th year careers, and only the second for the 4th year seniors. The only game I didn’t call right last week was Geneseo who ended up losing to Clarkson. I nailed Potsdam over Morrisville by 3-4 goals. Everybody is in action for a mid week game except Oneonta who will have to wait to open conference play until Saturday.

Cortland vs Skidmore

Cortland held tough against Salisbury and threw a few good punches. They are in two different leagues so the score worked out as I expected. They come back home to take on Skidmore under the lights. I don’t think this one will end over time like the thriller against Ithaca under the lights back in 2017 but there will definitely be some goals scored. I think Cortland gets back on track to smoking teams as they get ready to open up conference play this weekend.

Geneseo vs Alfred

I thought Geneseo had the good but they proved that I am an idiot once again. A huge 3rd quarter was the difference in this one. The golden knights punched the other knights directly in the face after half time. They rallied back in the 4th but it was too late. They will take on Alfred at home on Wednesday. I think Geneseo will also get back to their winning ways and will coast to a 5-6 goal win. They can’t be looking too far ahead for their matchup with Cortland this weekend.

Brockport vs Naz

I thought St Mary’s was going to dog walk the eagles over the weekend. They held much tougher than I expected. They have Naz coming to town on Wednesday in what will most likely be another loss. I think we will have another very similar score to the St Mary’s game. They will open up conference play against those cowards Oswego on Saturday.

Oswego vs Utica

Oswego just refuses to play anybody. Their game was canceled again against Stockton this past weekend. They take on Utica on the road on Wednesday. I think they will pull away more in this one and get their second win of the year. They are set to take on Brockport this weekend. Most likely they end up canceling both games.

Plattsburgh vs Clarkson

Coach LaSala came to town and put his dick on the table. They smacked Plattsburgh around like Beneder did to Kickel at Cliff that one night. They take on Clarkson which will be another beatdown. They will take on New Platz on Saturday in what people are calling the worst game of the year.

Potsdam vs Canton

Don’t look now but Potsdam is about to have a 5 game winning streak. Canton thanks for coming but the bears are HOT right now. Too bad that will all fizzle out when they travel to take on the best team in the country that has somebody named Matt Krieg on their roster.

New Paltz vs Delhi

If you combined the roster of New Paltz and both teams they played this week the best players from that pool still wouldn’t come within 15 goals of Cortland. I think New Paltz will go 1-1 this week. A close win over Delhi and then a loss to Plattsburgh on saturday.

Oneonta vs Potsdam

The boys open up conference play after a nice little win streak on spring break. They have a chance to keep the streak alive for a few more games.

Hartwick vs Alfred

The Eagles went 2-0 in the SUNYAC last week. They take on Alfred as they both start conference play for the Empire 8. Alfred has always been a solid team that always beats/ ties with Oneonta in their yearly scrimmage. After watching what Oneonta did to Hartwick I think Alfred takes this one.

RIT vs St John Fisher

The boys took their loss on Friday and took all of their anger out on Stevenson in the first half on Saturday. The Tigers pumped Stevenson 13-1 in the first half and didn’t look back. I think they will continue this and will look to kick the shit out of Fischer, their Rochester rival who has given them a run for their money the last few years. I think Fischer is trash now and I think the Coon army will look to inflict some pain at home under the lights.

GOTW- CNU vs Washington and Lee, Union vs St. Lawrence

A couple of top 10 teams face off under the lights down in Virginia on Wednesday. CNU has been arguably the hottest team in division three lacrosse the past two years. For the first time they go to battle with the biggest X on their chests they’ve ever had as the number one ranked team in the country. I can’t remember if they reached number 1 after beating Salisbury last year but this time I think it will stick for a while. Washington and Lee has had a good start to the year with some nice wins over York in OT to start the season and Denison. This will be a much bigger test as the bad boys of the south will look to inflict some pain. I think CNU will do what they’ve done to basically everybody for the last few years and jump all over them to start the game. I like the Captains by 7-8 in this one.

On Saturday two of the best in the country face off in a Liberty League battle. Both 5-0 and off to a great start this year will look to kick the shit out of each other. I’ll get back into this more on Thursday.

Some people are calling it a win streak

I am going on a party strike. I will not stop partying until Oneonta loses another game. (may never ever happen). The SUNYAC has been hot since the last blog. If my math is correct which it probably isn’t, the entire league has racked up 13 wins in the last 2 weeks.

Cortland vs Salisbury.

Cortland took Lasalle and Washington College (Shout out Andrew Doctor) and shoved Jimmy Nielsen’s timbs down both of their throats. The short turnaround didn’t matter, the fake dragons are one of the hotter teams in the country right now and earned a spot in the top 20.

Bevilles guys have a tough one tomorrow against the former Potsdam coach, Jim Berkman and the Salisbury Steaks. Salisbury has been Salisbury this year. One hick up against a very good Gettysburg team and an awesome game against Lynchburg they sit at 5-1. I think Cortland is in that second wave of great teams in the country. Salisbury has been and will continue to be in the top tier for decades. I think the Gulls will pull this one out by 5-7 goals but Cortland will hang tough.

Geneseo vs Clarkson

Geneseo did drop their game to St. Lawrence but then picked up 2 nice wins against Maritime and Widener. The Knights schedule toughens up again with some hard games in 3 of their next 4 against Cortland, St. John Fischer, and Clarkson

Clarkson is looking to go 3-0 in the SUNYAC with a win over Geneseo. They’re 5-0 on the year already but Geneseo will be their toughest competition so far. This was such a close game last year and I think for the fact that Geneseo has been in some fights this year will help them towards the end of the game. As long as another Ehli brother doesn’t mess anything up the Knights will take this by 1-2 goals.

Brockport vs St. Marys

Brockport picked up two wins after a tough loss to Wooster a few weeks ago. This next game aint Utica though. St Mary’s has hung tough recently with some good teams like Elizabethtown and Denison. This will more than likely be worse than their Clarkson game earlier this year.

Oswego vs Stockton

Oswego decided to play its first game since the last blog. They Lost to Clarkson and then Beat Morrisville for its first win of the season. Coach LaSala then came to town and showed the Lakers who’s boss. Stockton has lost to Scranton and most recently Swarthmore. Oswego isn’t anywhere near where they need to be to be able to beat a team like Stockton. Stockton by 8.

Plattsburgh vs Hartwick

Plattsburgh has gone on a 3 game losing streak since the last blog. They have lost to Skidmore, University of New England, and Plymouth State. Hartwick looks to improve their record to 2-1 in the SUNYAC with this matchup on the road. I’ve said it before, Coach LaSala gets the most out of his players and when you put 2 bad teams up against each other like this give me the Hawks.

Potsdam vs Morrisville

Potsdam has been on a run, ripping off 3 wins against Neuman, Moravian, and Castleton. Not exactly Duke and Virginia but a wins a win. If you’re into sloppy lacrosse this might be the game for you this weekend. This has a 20 turnover per team game written all over it. Potsdam is a great in the mud team and when it comes down to playing dirty and gross lacrosse there’s nobody better. I like DA BEARS by 3-4.

New Paltz vs Mount St. Vincent

New Platz grabbed their first win of the season against Mount St Mary’s last week. They take on Mount St. Vincent at home tomorrow. I don’t want to be mean because I love Coach Lanigan but if you’re getting roasted by Sage I might have to check you for a pulse. This is a good sign for New Paltz and I think the win streak.

Oneonta vs St Oneys Day

The boys are RED HOT. Obviously a tough loss to Skidmore and then they held tough against Stevens Tech. The boys then went on to do something the Dragons haven’t been able to do in like a decade. They won the battle of mug night, I’m so happy I could cry. I’ve heard the ghost of Devon Casey has been spotted for the first time in town after the win. The boys then went on and found out how to score on spring break(Atta boy). They now face one of a day that gets circled on the calendar every year, St Oneys day. Some of the best days of my life happened on this day. Have a drink with me and enjoy fellas.

RIT vs CNU

RIT is set to take on #3 CNU tonight at 6pm. #1 vs #3 and what most people thought were two atomic bombs on a direct path to meet in last year’s championship. This is the game I have been dying to see for the last two years. CNU had a “close” game with Fischer but besides that they have picked up right where they left off last year. Similar to how I didn’t like the matchup with Tufts’ big athletic team in the semi finals last year, I don’t love the match up here with CNU. I had picked RIT to lose 2 games this year, York which they ended up coming back and winning and this game tonight. What the hell do I know because RIT then pumped 10 in the first quarter on Tufts last year. This is obviously not the same team as last year and again I think the loss of Angus and Barnable will stand out. I think this could be RITs worst loss since the championship game to Salisbury in ’17. That literally means any loss by more than 1. They’ve lost TWO games by more than 1 since that championship game. If you want to laugh, go look back at RITs record over the last 10 years. It makes me smile every time. As for their Saturday game there’s not a more hated team in Coach Coons mind then Stevenson, put the house on the Tigers in that one. Anyway I am so fucking excited to watch this game with a little glass of brown juice and start St Patrick’s Day off the right way.

“You play to win the game”- General Custer

Cortland vs. Lasell

Cortland came out a little sloppy on Sunday but then turned it on in the second and third quarter. Troy Morris was a beast in this one along with his red headed midfield counterpart, Tyler Starrett. These guys are so athletic that anybody outside of the top 10 is going to have a hard time to beat the fake red dragons.

One of these teams went on a 10 game win streak last year, the other team is Cortland. Lasell is awesome at beating the deaf dumb and the blind. They suck just as bad in beating good teams. Bad news for them is Cortland might land themselves right outside the top 20 ranks this week. Cortland is going to want to push the pedal down fast to start this game to get their guys some rest because it’s a quick turn around for a match up at Washington College on Sunday.

Geneseo vs. St Lawrence

Geneseo played a hell of a game against Ithaca. I thought the Bombers had pulled away enough in the 3rd quarter so I turned and watched another game. I flipped back with 2 minutes left and Geneseo had the lead. Some funky stuff happened in the last 30 seconds that if you had a little bit more composure they should have held on and won this game. Each team had their opportunities to end it but Ithaca put the ball in the back of the net first in the second over time.

This game against St Lawrence will show what Geneseo is all about in their toughest matchup of the year and second toughest game on their schedule. SLU is in that stratosphere right above Ithaca (Insane they Let RJ Ehli coach here) so I think it will be tough to come out with a win here.

Brockport vs. Westminster

Brockport walked off the bus and instantly got robbed at gunpoint. They went down 7-1 almost immediately in their game against Wooster. Wooster also beat Westminster earlier this year so this game should be interesting. The fact that Brockport is home makes me feel more confident in them. If they lose this one though it will be a longggg rest of the year for the eagles.

Oswego vs. Clarkson

It’s insane that I’ve written like 100 blogs about DS lacrosse this year and Oswego still hasn’t played a game. Clarkson will have a better SUNYAC record at the end of the year then half of the teams actually in the SUNYAC after they beat Oswego and will be 2-0.

Plattsburgh vs. Skidmore

Skidmore will also have the chance to have a pretty impressive SUNYAC record playing 3 teams and already one win under their belt. If Skidmore could do what they did to Oneonta it has to be worse for Plattsburgh right? For the love of god I hope so.

Potsdam vs. Moravian

The Bears held off a 4th quarter comeback against Neuman today. The Senior Peyton Walsh had 6, count em 6 goals in this one. That’s one more than Oneonta scored as a team today :(. The Bears drive over to Bethlehem to play Moravian. I don’t know jack shit about Moravian except they have lost to some bad teams this year. I think the upstate boys get another dub here.

New Paltz vs Mount Saint Mary’s

New Paltz jumped out to a first quarter lead and then went on to get outscored 7-1 in the next 2 quarters. This game against Mount St. Mary’s should be very similar to their game against Morrisville. I think MSM wins a close one.

Oneonta vs. Hartwick

The boys hung in as tough as they could. They held a team in Dan Kaplans top 30 ranking to 10 goals. The defense played really well 1 on 1 and I thought it slid and recovered well. Boukas made the saves he was supposed to. Stevens just didn’t have any signs of team offense, a lot of guys just trying to take it to the hoop themselves. On the other side, Oneonta’s offense just doesn’t have a guy that can break his defender down and draw a ton of attention like Dean Cannon used to. The offense struggled again but not as much as the clearing game where they went 17/25. 22 turnovers was also back breaking. The 10 man strikes again and I would expect to see it in a ton more games the rest of the way.

Hand up I thought Hartwick was going to start the season on the right foot. Farmingdale took what I said and shoved it right down my throat. I talked about how nobody gets more out of their players in the country than Coach LaSala and I still stand by that. He’s also one of the better X’s and O’s guys I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I would 100% expect to see a 10 man ride in his game plan even on a short week. Coach Owens has not been able to beat the Hawks yet and I just don’t know if they have the firepower to do it this year either. I think we have a similar score to last year’s game, somewhere around a 11-9 game.

RIT vs. Ursinus

What a game between RIT and York on Sunday. A slow start for the tigers but they were able to bounce back and climb all the way back and then some. They were cruising on all parts of the field in the second half but almost let it slip away in the end. Ill tell you what though York has fucking duded in the cage and at the X. Those two guys, specifically the faceoff guy was super impressive and a guy you need to get to championship weekend. RIT might have found another gem to add to the star studded Attack. The rookie out of The Hill Academy, Tyson Allison had himself a day with 4 goals. The Bruno brothers all got on the field too whi8ch was cool. I cant talk enough about Coach Whitchers and his game planning ability. This guy is different and will make a hell of a head coach one day soon. They didn’t stick to it the entire game but his ideas to put short sticks on Pilcher and Bell was genius and frustrated the tigers early and put a lot of pressure on the midfield. RITs abilities to make the unbalanced/ no room underhand flip pass right on the money is the real difference between them and the rest of the top offenses in division 3 lacrosse.

The Tigers travel down to Homewood field to take on #17 Ursinus on Saturday. They beat a Stevenson team that I think is overrated and got smoked by York so far this year. I think this will be similar to the Bates game. Coach Coons guys can’t overlook the Bears with CNU and the mustang classic less than a week after.

Washington & Lee vs. Gettysburg

The game of the weekend was by far Salisbury vs Lynchburg so I do apologize for overlooking that (A great game to watch if you’re not Austin Stewart). A couple of top 10 teams meet down in Virginia in my opinion the best game of this weekend. I want to do some more research on these teams so I will get more into detail about it on Thursdays blog.

“I’m reading don’t kill myself books”- John Beckwith- Danny Kimmel

It was a tough week to be a fan of the original red dragons. They say tough times don’t last but tough people do. Turns out I am not a tough person. I’m going to try to add a few more games to this list throughout the year. I don’t have that much info on a lot of teams besides the SUNYAC, RIT, and Hartwick but this will have to do for this week.

Cortland vs. Scranton

Cortland started out the year with a huge win over the boys from Rochester. A big 2nd and 4th quarter helped them more than double up Fischer. Like I said last week Fischer would look much different than they did last year. Regardless, this was still a good win. I think this game vs Scranton will be a tougher battle for the Dragons. The last few meetings have been pretty close and Scranton finally got over the hump last year and beat Cortland. I think this one will also be super close. I think Cortland wins by 1-2 goals.

Geneseo vs. Ithaca

The enemy out west starts the year 2-0. There wasn’t much to tell from the Bombers first game except I think Oneonta can take Lycoming. This should be a great game that I think Coach Long and the boys will take the dub.

Brockport vs. Wooster

Wooster is the Salisbury of beating teams I didn’t know had a NCAA level program this year. They’re already 3-0 and have played the deaf, dumb, and blind. Brockport should be able to get Coach Cornaire his first win here.

Oswego vs. Clarkson

Oswego still refuses to play anybody. They play Clarkson on Tuesday on the road to start the year. I think this one will be a blow out in favor of the Golden Knights.

Plattsburgh vs. Sage

Whoops this one already happened. Plattsburgh held off a 4th quarter comeback against Coach Lanigan’s boys. The eagles are 2-0, I wish we were 2-0.

Potsdam vs. Neuman

Potsdam put up more in a game against #14 St Lawrence then we did against Skidmore :(. Neuman is making a bold move to play 2 games in 3 days. They play Susquehanna on Saturday and a quick turnaround vs Potsdam on Monday. I think Neuman loses both. Potsdam is one of those scrappy teams that will lose to Wells college but then give RIT a fit. Potsdam gets their first win of the year here.

New Paltz vs. Morrisville

This game is going to suck. I’m not entirely sure who will win but everybody who has to watch will lose.

Oneonta vs Stevens

Their game on Wednesday reminded me of the epic loss to St Joes back in 2019. I’m worried for my boys on Monday. I can see it now, me sitting at my desk on Monday looking into my computer screen with a tear running down my cheek as a Stevens midfielder rolls back and scores with no slide help, “Look how they’re massacring my boys”. It could be a tough week because they follow it up with the evil genius Don LaSala and the Hawks for the battle of mug night on Wednesday. Spring break couldn’t come at a better time after these games.

Hartwick vs Farmingdale

Hartwick opens the season with a road trip to god’s country (Long Island) with a date with Farmingdale. They might have a tougher battle against Farmingdale High School after the Rams just barely beat New Paltz Last week. Nobody in the country gets more out of their players than Coach LaSala. I think this will be close in the first half but the Hawks will pull away in the second half. Take a walk across the street to Changing Times, I heard Quinn hasn’t left his bar stool there since our last Millon Camp back in 2018.

RIT vs York

I want to start adding a game of the week to the D3 blog on top of already covering RIT. It just turns out that This happens to be the game of the week in D3 in my opinion. Next up would be Salisbury and Lynchburg but I don’t have my Austin Stewart stat lines ready to talk about the Burg yet. I called RIT losing 2 games this year and this is one of them. I would feel really confident about it if this game happened right after the 3 OT game vs Muhlenberg. They got back on track to kicking the shit out of teams again this week. I think the Loss of Barnable and Angus are going to be too much to overcome in this one. I just haven’t loved the production the midfield has been able to produce so far this year. I know that’s crazy to say about a team that’s scored 50 goals in 3 games this year. The mighty mouse line of Grottenthaler, Mozrall, and Bruno hasn’t been able to create enough separation to draw eyes to give room to the sharp shooters of Gaston, Bell, and Pilcher. Again 50 goals is 50 goals but this game I think will be the one that shows how impossible it is to replace 17 and 23.

You are a coward if you had your game canceled this weekend.

Key word is weekend. Weekday games get canceled all the time, canceling your first weekend game if the year means you are a coward. About half of this weekend’s games got pushed for some crazy upstate weather this past weekend. Most will be rescheduled so we’ll come back and check my record on those games at the end of the year. I’ve covered a bunch of these games already so I apologize. I will come up with a better system as we go along.

Cortland vs. Fischer.

Cortland follows in the footsteps of former star player #21 by being a big ol coward. A little snow was too much for the fake Red Dragons to handle. They were flat out afraid if you ask me. Would they have stomped them by 10? yea probably but whatever. Wednesday’s game should be very interesting. Cortland returns a star studded grad year group/ Fischer on the other hand has had the luxury of having one of the best faceoff guys in the county to give to a top 10 offense in the country the last few years. Their defense was always a problem and without their star face off guy I think the evil empire will start to crumble. I think Fischer will still win this one but in a much closer game then last year.

Geneseo vs. Morrisville

The Knights got off to a good start last weekend with a good win over Naz. They take on Morrisville. They stink and the boys from Rochester will roll in this one.

Brockport vs. Clarkson

Alfred was too much to handle for the rookie head coach last week. They have a brutal task at hand having to travel to Clarkson on a short week. This one could get ugly for the Eagles.

Oswego vs. The ghost of Christmas Past

Oswego will have to wait to get its ass kicked from Coach Lasala and the Hawks. Oswego will have to wait another week for its next game. They also will play Clarkson in Potsdam Tuesday March 7th. I’ll get into this one more next week but I expect the same outcome to whatever Brockport gets from Golden Knights.

Potsdam vs. St Lawrence

I said it last week, this one will be over early.

Plattsburgh vs. Canton

Again I called this one the other day. RJ Ehli is a close personal friend of mine and I think the boys will win this one for him.

New Paltz vs. Farmingdale

Go read the blog from last weekend you fucks it was funny.

Oneonta vs. Skidmore

Cash ya bets people OV with 2 very nice goals to hit the over 1.5 I set last week was absolute genius on my part. The boys started a little slow but they got where they needed to be. The competition jumps a good amount with their mid week game at home against Skidmore. I wish those cowards over in *ortland had a chance to beat on these guys a little but last week but what are ya gonna do. We haven’t been able to do it yet and I have to be fair to the readers, Oneonta will win but 300 goals, I’m kidding. Unfortunately I think the boys will drop this one in a 1-2 score game. If they were to win they would need a repeat performance from Dinnegan and Vail. They are also going to need either the rookie O’Neil, DG or Krieg to step up and be a serious threat to score from the attack position. This is such a generic statement and so obvious but more than anything they need the keeper to make the saves he’s supposed to and Sommo will need to win some more face offs.

Bonus Game RIT vs. Naz

The boys got back on the right foot putting up over 20 goals in a very nice win over Bates. In typical Tiger fashion they did it all over the field, good defense, mucked it up at the X, good goalie play, defensemen scoring, and the 10 man ride. If they play like they did on Saturday they will be just fine for the home opener tomorrow against Naz. I think Tigers win 24-8.

SUNYAC Round up

We have one team already with a loss in the record books. Oneonta, Cortland, Geneseo, Brockport, and Oswego open up this weekend. Last but not least Potsdam and Plattsburgh get their season underway on Tuesday and Wednesday. After a quick glance I think the conference will go 4-4 in the next week, not including New Paltz loss already to Maritime. Let’s see how wrong I can be.

Cortland vs. Skidmore

Skidmore has been a thorn in my ass since the first time I coached against them. Even with that, any day that Cortland loses is a great day. As I’ve already explained, the C State boys have everybody back for a 5th year. There’s a better chance Cortland beats them by 2o then there is of Skidmore to actually win.

Geneseo vs. Nazareth

The last 10 years you could argue as good as Geneseo has gotten, Naz has equally gotten worse. This is not 2000 Naz anymore. I hate that Geneseo is good but they will win this game.

Brockport vs. Alfred

This is the game I’m most interested to see. Brockport (I think) graduated a ton and is led by a rookie head coach. Alfred isn’t competing for a national championship anytime soon but they are still pretty solid all over the field. Ultimately I think Alfred wins this one but we will learn a lot about Brockport from this one.

Oswego vs. Hartwick

I hope the king Hawk Coach LaSala sails his ship up Oswego Lake like Washington crossing the Delaware and kicks the shit out of Oswego. The hawks definitely leave with a win here.

Potsdam vs. St. Lawrence

Thank god for Potsdam the golden boy Josh Huiatt graduated so he doesn’t have to come back and put a smack down on the boys. This one will be over pretty quick.

Plattsburgh vs. Canton

This game could end 1-2 and I wouldn’t be surprised. I don’t think these teams even know how to score a goal. Shout out to the big 4-7 public enemy #1 Ryan Callahan, the boys could use you in this one. Not you RJ you loser.

New Paltz vs. Farmingdale

New Paltz held in tougher than expected against Maritime the other day. It definitely made me rethink picking them to come in last in the conference. Farmingdale is playing Sunday Tuesday for some ridiculous reason. This has me feeling this game should also be closer than it should be. I think Farmingdale will squeeze out a close one.

Oneonta vs. Utica

I’m taking the rescheduled game as a win for the boys, congrats on 1-0. I’m going to make the bet of my lifetime here. I made this deal before and I did not follow through with it but this time I’m serious. I once said if Max Chin scored a goal against my defense back in 2018, 2 years after he had last touched a stick in his last year of grad school I would kill myself. Maxwell fucking Chin scored the first TWO goals of that game. I didn’t follow through on that bet but I absolutely will here. If Oneonta loses this game I will kill myself. Coach Owens I know you are reading this so do the right thing, score more goals then the other team. Prop bet of the day Owen Vail over 1.5 goals on the day. Don’t let me down boys.

So you’re telling me there’s a chance…

I have been kind enough to grace you peasants with my picks again this week. There’s a more then zero percent change I go 100% this week. Crazier things have happened people . Again if you are looking to collect for massive amount of losses you can reach Ryan Stern at 631-655-7716.

Fairfield vs. Sacred Heart

As I’ve been reminded multiple times Sacred Heart might be the worst team in America, possibly the whole world. Fairfield scares me because they aren’t that good either but I’m feeling this one with the 5.5 spread. This ones for you John Boy

Richmond vs. Towson

I think this should be a great game and more of a defensive battle. I’ve always loved coach Richards’ defense and what they’ve been able to do over the last few years. I think they will hold down Towson and win this thing 13-8.

UMBC vs. Mount. St. Mary’s

I don’t think either of these teams are very good. This game reminds me of a hot girl at a bar late at night and she had to pick between me or Quinn and you need to choose one to take home, I’ll pick the Mount to cover the 4.5.

High Point vs. Navy

Navy is a bunch of frauds. High point by 100000. PROVE ME WRONG NAVY.

Notre Dame vs. Georgetown

Georgetown has started slow this year. Notre Dame has lit the scoreboard on fire in there first two games, against some of the worst teams in the country but still fire non the less. I think Georgetown is good this year and needs this game to kick start the season. I think Notre Dame is just on another level this year and will be able to win this one by 3-5. Better luck next time Georgetown.

Yale vs. Penn State

Speaking of frauds I still think Penn State is a fraud. Keep this one close and change my mind. I think 29.5 is really high so I’m going with the under.

Hopkins vs. Utah

I think Hopkins needs to prove they are for real and need to dominate in all facets of the game. I think this will be the game they do. Hop dominates the Utes.

Vermont vs. Brown

I still think Brown is a good team after the big upset against Quinnipiac. I think they have a nice little upset of their own this weekend and beat the Catamounts outright.

St. Josephs vs. Providence

St. Joseph’s is stacked after returning everybody from last year. Providence stinks out loud. Hawks cruise in this one 6.5.

Denver vs. Merrimack

Game of the week and possible game of my life here. I am so confident in this one I may even come out of retirement to gamble on it. Merrimack has to travel a loooonnnngggg way to play a jacked up Denver team with 2 losses already. I think the Pio’s are going to fire up for this one and put Marquette’s dick in the dirt.

Maryland vs. Princeton

Maybe the best game of the weekend. Maryland in their last two have shown they are not as invincible as they were last year. I like the Tigers to cover at home.

Loyola vs. Rutgers

Loyola has show they can score and hold teams down defensively. I think Rutgers will be able to break down this defense more then Hopkins and Maryland have been able to so far. I really think this one could go either way so i’ll just take the over 23.5.

Dartmouth vs. Holy Cross

Dartmouth with their first win in a couple years will have them feeling good. Too bad Holy Cross is going to walk in like 1970s Hulk Hogan. I got one question for ya Dartmouth WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN THE CRUSADERS RUN WILD ON YOU BROTHER. (I’m taking the over)

UPenn vs. Duke

Another unreal matchup here. I think this game has points written all over it. Give me the Over.

Bryant vs. Quinnipiac

The former Bulldogs host their alma mater with a shiny fresh 2-0 record. I think Coach Zom has this offense buzzing and will be able to keep this one close. Bryant wins but the Bobcats cover the 2.5.

Michigan vs. Marquette

This line is EASY MONEY. Marquette (thanks for buying arm pads this week) stinks. Michigan looked like the real deal against UVA so my tiny brain will think they can beat a lot of people for a few years. I like the team up north by a ton.

Umass vs. BU

Another sneaky great game this weekend. I think both teams are good here but I like BU to win outright in the upset on the road at Millions old place.

Harvard vs. Bucknell

Harvard hasn’t stopped scoring goals since the second half of the UVA game last week. I think they continue to score and hold a bad Bucknell team around 5 goals again. GIVE ME THE UNDER 27.5.

Virginia vs. Ohio State

Speaking of scoring goals Virginia led by the best player in the country is coming off his best game (points wise) of his career in the white and orange. I think the Wahoo’s remind Ohio State that there a football school.

Delaware vs. Villanova

This game is tough to pick. Villanova has only been blown out twice in the last 2 years. I think Delaware is better and should win but I’m not sure by how much. Fuck it give me the Blue Hens by 3.

Syracuse vs. UNC

Cuse has a chance to prove this week that they are kind of back. They held tough against Maryland but if they go out and beat UNC that will show that they are getting better. I hate both of these teams so why not root for the New York’s team right? WHAT THE FUCKS A TAR HEAL.

Bellarmine vs, Marist

This is the last chance I’m giving my Comsewogue boys. If you can’t cover if not win outright against Bellarmine I’m done rooting for you.

Colgate vs. Hobart

Similar to what I said about Binghamton a few weeks back, Colgate isn’t good enough to be favored over anybody. My dad will hate me for doing this but I think Hobart wins outright.

Albany vs. Drexel

I think Coach Marrs boys will still be feeling good after their tight one against the Big Red last weekend. I like the Danes big over Drexel.

RMU vs. Canisius

This game will stink. Give me RMU.

Binghamton vs. Lafayette

Binghamton will continue to roll and make me look like a moron for saying they should never be favored against anybody.

Hofstra vs. St. Johns

I never got to see the Gait era Syracuse teams but I’m assuming they looked something like Hofstra did against LIU on Tuesday. Give me the pride -5.5

St. Bonaventure vs. VMI

Idk St. Bonaventure win?

Wagner vs. Queens

You have Notre Dame vs Georgetown, Duke vs UPenn, Maryland vs Princeton, and right up there with the biggest power houses of division 1 men’s lacrosse is Wagner vs. Queens. I think Wagner will ultimately win but I think Queens can cover the 4.5.

Screw you guys I’m going home

Okay so it turns out gambling sucks and so do I. I went 7-16 in my picks for week 2 and was too ashamed to post week 3. I turned it around and went 16-14, last time I checked going over .500 is good . People are starting to ask, did I even place a bet this weekend? No but shut up and leave me alone. Okay enough about me let’s talk about what’s important, my picks last week.

Umass vs Umass Lowell.

A boring one that anybody could have guessed wouldn’t have been high scoring. For as bad as Umass Lowell is, it’s hard for Umass to even beat them by 12, it’s just not their type of game.

Duke vs. Denver

I had Duke as my favorite this last week. I am once again standing here like Bart Simpson writing on the chalkboard, Never trust Duke in February. I thought these guys could have a strong bounce back after the big February loss the week before to Jacksonville. of course not why would that happen? What an idiot I am.

High Point vs. VMI

I didn’t get a chance to watch this one at all. High Point has built a good foundation to be a decent team over the last few years. Unfortunately what made them very competitive walked out the door in May and on to the PLL. VMI has shown a little bit this year and that’s why I picked them to cover the 9.5 spread. That’s a lot of points for a decent team to beat a not-great team.

Richmond vs. Bucknell

I was feeling good about this one and turned it off in the second half. I almost shit myself when I switched back with 5 minutes left and the under had almost gotten away from me. Thank god for some rookie shooting and slow offense to slow this thing down to a halt and end this thing right at the perfect time to save the under.

BU vs Bryant

Fuck ESPN for wanted me to sigh into my provider for this game and not watch like it would for the rest of the games. I didn’t watch any of this game either but who cares about it anyway. I’m going to take this off my record because I could watch and in that case I was 16-13 this weekend.

Georgetown vs. UPenn

Georgetown can’t start 02 can they? Not the team people had picked with the 4th best odds to win the natty. Like Duke I thought the Hoyas would have a bounce back game and jump on an ivy league team in their first game of the season. Nope my big stupid brain strikes again.

Loyola vs. Hopkins

The easiest money I didn’t make this weekend. Big dumb Idiots out there (Ryan Stern) were saying Loyola wasn’t the real deal after dismantling Maryland the week before. Hopkins held in there in the first half but the Hounds ran away with it in the second half.

St. Josephs vs. Towson

A good game from the looks of the box score. A good win for your friend Dan.

Holy Cross vs. Mercer

This one hurt my heart. HC had shown a little something in the early going this year but it was too good to be true. Mercer got their bounce back game and smoked HC.

Merrimack vs. Dartmouth

A big one for the big brains. Dartmouth with a nice start to the season.

Drexel vs. UMBC

UMBC wins the game and Dan (would have) won the bet.

Brown vs. Quinnipiac

ALERT THE MEDIA THE BOBCATS ARE FORREAL!! Congrats to the legend Alex Zomerfeld and the QU boys for a hell of an upset.

Vermont vs. Utah

Vermont wins the game and Dan loses the bet.

Princeton vs. Monmouth

Monmouth should be relegated to Division 2 for not covering 12.5 here. Fuck you.

Virginia vs. Harvard

I’ve never been so confused watching a lacrosse game in my life. I turned it on 25 seconds late and Virginia was already up by 100 goals. It seemed like Harvard would go man up score 1 and then Virginia would put in 6 and then repeat over and over. I flipped back and the crimson had the back door cover of the year.

Lafayette vs. Sacred Heart

I could never imagine going to Sacred Heart. You must have no pride or integrity to go to such a school. I would never want to be friends with anybody that’s gone there. I actually would have won this bet. I just wanted that on the record.

Yale vs. Villanova

Dating back to last year Villanova has been in every single game they have played. This wasn’t one of them. I mean they did have their moments but 2.5 was free money for Yale here.

Ohio State vs. UNC

My boy has done it. Richie LaCalandra with his first collegiate goal at a place that isn’t an absolute joke. Congrats to him, congrats to the rest of the Buckeyes, but not congrats to me,

Bellarmine vs. Canisius

Speaking of relegation, somebody will come get the griffins and let them play in the MCLA. Shout out Hank Champaign don’t say I’ve never written about club lax now.

Binghamton vs. St. Bonaventure

This one came down to the wire, ultimately with Bing pulling out the win and the over.

Cornell vs. Albany

The game of the day as Tommy Heller and the boys went punch for punch all the way till the end of the game with the national championship runner ups. Matt Spahr is a coward.

Lehigh vs. Hobart

Lehigh went on cruise control for the last half of the second quarter and got their teeth kicked in. They woke up in the second half and pulled away with the game and a dub for ya boy.

Navy vs. Manhattan

Year two of being Navy’s biggest hater and things couldn’t be going better. What a joke of a line to have them 6.5 over Manhattan. To quote the great Mike Ditka, “These guys couldn’t win a salad bowl let alone a regular season game against Manhattan”.

Jacksonville vs. Marist

Jacksonville got to coast in this one after their big dub against Duke the week before. Marist stinks.

Maryland vs. Syracuse

Cuse finally showed they can play competitive ball against the big boys again. This was a good loss for the baby Orange, but another bad loss for me.

Fairfield vs. Wagner

Is Wagner still a division 1 team? Their most impressive wins in the last ten years have been against schools in their first year as a division 1 program in LIU and Monmouth. If you’re thinking to yourself that the moron who misspelt Potsdam in his blog last weekend is making it up, do yourself a favor and look it over and tell me I’m wrong.

LIU vs. Lindenwood

Congrats to Lindenwood on their first ever Division 1 win. It’s another sad day to be a Pioneer.

Michigan vs. Hofstra

The pride really stepped up here and did what they needed to hold on against a Michigan team that looked to be the real deal the week prior against UVA.

Penn State vs. Stony Brook

Okay Penn State can score but can they stop anybody defensively? I’m upset with SBU here, In year 4 for coach Gilardi I thought this could have been a win to show the Sea wolves are for real this year. Bad loss all around for the local kids.

Rutgers vs. Army

Army gripped onto their early 3 goal lead and held on all the way to the 4th quarter. They faltered there but ultimately kept it together for a nice first win in their post Nichtern era.

D3 Luv

The blog you have all been waiting for, my 2023 SUNYAC prediction. I called all four playoff teams last year but not the seedings. Shocker Cortland came in first followed by Geneseo. Brockport jumped my O-State boys to take the 3 seed after having an incredible last year for Coach Wineburg. The final four were a mosh pit of bad lacrosse in order: Oswego, Potsdamn, New Paltz, Plattsburgh.

The swinging door that is the SUNYAC conference welcomes 4 new head coaches. Coach Owens in year six and Coach Bezek in year two at his new digs (6 years prior with Oswego) join Bevel and Berkmen as the elder statesmen of the conference. Brockport hired a former Geneseo assistant Colin Cornaire to fill the position as “part time” head coach. Oswego makes the decision to move on from a young star in Sean Eccles to a guy with more experience I guess? This guy was the head coach of a team we blew out so bad that even I got to play, let that sink in. Dwayne Stewart, the man responsible for one of the worst days of my life (Wednesday April 27th 2022) moves on to become the director of Bronx Lacrosse. Dylan Neisler, the former assistant at New Paltz takes over as the head honcho. Darry Thornton takes over for Coach Hauk at Plattsburgh. Hauk moves on to Misericordia, shout out to all the legendary Miz grad assistants.

#1 Cortland

If you read my post about the SUNAYC last year ill save you the trouble because its the same fucking thing. The Homer conglomerate is back with Troy Morris to make everybody wait another year to see if they really have a shot at the crown. Blah blah blah Cortland goes home with another T-shirt on free T- shirt day.

#2 Geneseo

Geneseo will be good again but they graduate another great class from the Fiorentino era. I think Geneso will drop more than the Cortland game in conference play this year. I don’t know who but yet but that’s what my guts telling me.

#3 Oneonta

My boys, my first and only full recruiting class, is set to start their senior year. I can’t believe how fast time has gone but it’s been an absolute pleasure watching these guys grow up right in front of me. I think these guys have talent everywhere most importantly on the defensive end. They have DUDES in Mangles, Nicholson, Guerero, St John, and Moreno. Not to mention 2 d mids in Dimo and Caffrey that have taken almost every rep since they stepped foot on campus. They have a rookie keeper that’s the real deal and a face off guy in Sommo whose tailor made for these new rules. Offensively OV will be going for career goal number TWO starting out at attack this year. The old guy is weighed down by his high school state championship ring and some lingering injuries. They also have seniors Haita, and Diggs out of the midfield. Haita the quickest mother fucker you’ve ever seen and will change it up and maybe even score with his left hand every once in a while. Diggs is as nasty as they come and if he remembers how to catch could be one of the better midfielders in the conference. If that’s not good enough, what could be better than some Comsewogue boys to help put some balls in the back of the net? I love this team and I am not being dramatic at all when I say if they win a SUNYAC playoff game Jesus Christ himself could not stop me from dancing shirtless on the bar at Jimmy Ts after. Sam, Diggs, Bruce, OV, Dimo, DG, Trumama, 40, and Mando I love you guys and go kick some ass this year.

#4 Brockport

Similar to Geneseo I think these guys graduate a great senior class. Similar to their great class of 2018. I still think they have some pieces but the major reason I have them at 4 and not 3 is the new coach. There is going to be an adjustment period for the Eagles.

#5 Potsdamn

Old father time of the SUNYAC will find a way to beat some of these new head coaches. Soderquist and Huiatt aren’t walking through the door this year so I still think it will be a tough go for the Bears.

#6 Oswego

Oswego hired a guy who went like 16-100 in his last 5 years as a head coach. Way to do the responsible thing by making this guy the head coach instead of rolling with the new kid on the block who got you 8 wins last year and almost a playoff spot. What the hells a laker anyway.

#7 Plattsburgh

The once mighty and powerful have fallen so far. To think the only team to ever win a SUNYAC title that’s not named Cortland comes in last just 5 years later is insane. I blame this entirely on former player Rj Ehli but that’s a story for another time. I think the Cardinals will be waiting for the next Ryan Hubbard to show up, so they better get comfortable down here at the bottom.

#8 New Paltz

These scumbags got their first SUNYAC win ever last year. Realistically I should have put these guys 6-7 but fuck em. Their first 4 year recruiting class will make a push for SUNYAC win #2 this year which I think they will get but definitely not #3.

As far as the rest of D3, I need to watch some games before I can give my opinions. There’s always one thing to say and that’s #RollTigers
